THESSALY. Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 5.91 g, 5 h), signed by Telephantos and Ip.... Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with an eagle wing and a coiled serpent on the bowl; in tiny letters behind neck, T/I-Π. Rev. Φ-A/P-Σ Thessalian cavalryman riding horse prancing to left, wearing petasos, chlamys and chiton, and holding a lagobolon over his right shoulder; in exergue, T. BCD Thessaly 1287 (same obverse die). Lavva 109 (V52/R61). Lightly toned and of fine style. Somewhat porous and with a die break on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
